Glittr has undergone a major update

Glittr.org lists Git repositories with educational materials for the computational life sciences. The latest update improves its interoperability.

The information (metadata) associated with the education material has been improved and standardized. Specifically:

  • Attribution to authors is now enabled. All contributors (when available), and their ORCID, are stored displayed.

  • Repositories are now described using a standard markup using Bioschemas TrainingMaterial Profile.

  • Unique and globally recognized identifiers are used when possible. Topics are described using the EDAM ontology and Wikidata, while contributors are associated with their ORCID.

Furthermore, the following functionalities have been implemented:

  • Each course now has its own web page in Glittr, which can be found, and linked to, using the GitHub slug.

  • All the courses for an organization can be found, and linked to, using a GitHub slug.
