Research on humans and model organisms (like mice, flies, yeast) are complementary. There are currently 47 databases and tools in Expasy which contain or can be applied to human data, whereas there are 37 relevant to model organisms.

Nextstrain use by the WHO
There are around a billion cases of seasonal influenza (flu) annually, including 3–5 million cases of severe illness. The WHO uses real-time tracking of influenza lineage evolution by Nextstrain to make recommendations.
