| HAMAP: Roseiflexus sp. (strain RS-1) complete proteome |
| Species code: | ROSS1 |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Chloroflexi; Chloroflexales; Chloroflexaceae; Roseiflexus (TaxID: 357808) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Roseiflexus is a filamentous anoxygenic phototroph, one of the green filamentous bacteria. This lineage is placed on the deepest branch of all photosynthetic bacteria. RS-1 was isolated from a microbial mat in Octopus Spring, in Yellowstone National Park, U.S.A. It does not have chlorosomes, which are a type of light-harvesting structure. Comparative genomics indicates that it appears to have the genetic capacity for CO2 reduction via the 3-hydroxypropionate pathway (adapted in part from PubMed 17635550). |
