| HAMAP: Pseudomonas putida (strain W619) complete proteome |
| Species code: | PSEPW |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Gammaproteobacteria; Pseudomonadales; Pseudomonadaceae; Pseudomonas (TaxID: 390235) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Members of the genus Pseudomonas are characterized by their ability to grow in simple media at the expense of a great variety of organic compounds. They have a strict respiratory metabolism and are motile by one or several polar flagella. They are common inhabitants of soil and water and can also be found on the surfaces of plants and animals. They are are found in nature in a biofilm or in planktonic form. Endophytes are bacteria that live within the tissues of plants without causing them any harm; Pseudomonas putida W619 was isolated from Populus trichocarpa x deltoides cv. "Hoogvorst" and represented one of the most commonly found species among the poplar endophytes isolated so far. Bacteria were isolated from the poplar rhizosphere, and as endophytes from root and stem material. It is closely related to P.putida KT2440 a previously sequenced plant saprophyte (adapted from http://genome.jgi-psf.org/finished_microbes/psepw/psepw.home.html). |
