| HAMAP: Chlorobium chlorochromatii (strain CaD3) complete proteome |
| Species code: | CHLCH |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Chlorobi; Chlorobia; Chlorobiales; Chlorobiaceae; Chlorobium/Pelodictyon group; Chlorobium (TaxID: 340177) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Phototrophic consortia are structural associations between a colorless central bacterium and surrounding green- or brown-pigmented epibionts. To date, seven different morphotypes of motile, phototrophic consortia have been observed in freshwater lakes around the world. Such consortia can reach high concentrations in some environments, and are believed to represent important components of the carbon and sulfur cycles in freshwater environments. Chlorochromatium aggregatum is an aggregate consortium, made up of 2 types of bacteria. There is a colorless Betaproteobacterium in the center surrounded by 13 +/- 5 Chlorobium chlorochromatii CaD3, a green sulfur bacterium, which is the epibiont. |
