Comments
  • FUNCTION: Responsible for transcriptional activation of immediate early promoters (alpha genes). Activation requires the formation of a heteromeric complex with the host cell factor. These two proteins then assemble with the octamer motif-binding protein Oct-1 on the cis-acting target sequence: 5'-TAATGARAT-3'.
  • SIMILARITY: Belongs to the herpesviridae alpha trans-inducing protein family.
