| Description: |
Marine Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus are the most abundant photosynthetic organisms on earth and between them account for about half of the world's photosynthesis. WH7803 was isolated from the Sargasso Sea, in mesotrophic water (rich in nutrient salts) and is the best physiologically characterized marine Synechococcus strain. It is also easily transformed (adapted from http://www.genoscope.fr/externe/English/Projets/Projet_HP/organisme_HP.html). |
