HAMAP: Sinorhizobium medicae (strain WSM419) (Ensifer medicae) complete proteome

General information

Species:  Sinorhizobium medicae (strain WSM419) (Ensifer medicae)
Species code: SINMW
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Alphaproteobacteria; Rhizobiales; Rhizobiaceae; Sinorhizobium/Ensifer group; Sinorhizobium (TaxID: 366394) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Sinorhizobium medicae WSM419, originally known as Rhizobium meliloti WSM419, is an acid-tolerant strain originally isolated from acidic soil in Sardinia. It is a motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacteria. It nodulates Medicago spp., is used to inoculate these plants commercially, and is thus studied for its acid-tolerance. It was placed in a new taxon based on phenotypic and phylogenetic studies of the 16S gene. It has one chromosome and three plasmids.
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Interaction: Plant symbiont
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of SINMW entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 6145 (353 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 5792 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
