| HAMAP: Rhodoferax ferrireducens (strain DSM 15236 / ATCC BAA-621 / T118) complete proteome |
| Species code: | RHOFD |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Betaproteobacteria; Burkholderiales; Comamonadaceae; Rhodoferax (TaxID: 338969) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Rhodoferax ferrireducens (strain DSM 15236 / ATCC BAA-621 / T118) is a Gram-negative, motile, short rod with a single polar flagellum. It grows between pH 6.7 and 7.1, with a temperature range of 4-30 degrees C. The optimal growth temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. Electron donors utilized with Fe(III) as the sole electron acceptor included acetate, lactate, malate, propionate, pyruvate, succinate and benzoate. None of the compounds tested was fermented. Unlike other species in this genus, Rhodoferax ferrireducens (strain DSM 15236 / ATCC BAA-621 / T118) seems not to be a phototroph and not to ferment fructose. |
