| HAMAP: Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae (strain B728a) complete proteome |
| Species code: | PSEU2 |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Gammaproteobacteria; Pseudomonadales; Pseudomonadaceae; Pseudomonas (TaxID: 205918) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Pseudomonas syringae produces different symptoms depending on the host species and the site of infection. Considerable variation occurs both between and within different pathovars of P.syringae. Pseudomonas syringae pv.syringae (strain B728a) exhibits a very pronounced epiphytic phase on plants. It achieves and maintains large populations on healthy plants, where they are exposed to stressful conditions such as dryness and sunlight. Epiphytic Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae populations serve as inocula that can subsequently invade plants and initiate disease. These strains are distinct from many P.syringae strains, such as P.syringae pv. tomato (strain DC3000), which poorely colonize the exterior of plants. Strain B728a can exploit at least two habitats: the leaf surface and apoplast. |
