HAMAP: Listeria monocytogenes serotype 4b (strain F2365) complete proteome

General information

Species:  Listeria monocytogenes serotype 4b (strain F2365)
Species code: LISMF
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Firmicutes; Bacillales; Listeriaceae; Listeria (TaxID: 265669) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Gram-positive rods motile by a few peritrichous flagella. 1-10% of humans might be intestinal carriers of L.monocytogenes. It has been found in at least 37 mammalian species, both domestic and feral, as well as at least 17 species of birds and possibly some species of fish and shellfish. It can be isolated from soil, silage, and other environmental sources. L. monocytogenes is quite hardy and resists the deleterious effects of freezing, drying, and heat remarkably well for a bacterium that does not form spores. The manifestations of listeriosis include septicemia, meningitis (or meningoencephalitis), encephalitis, and intrauterine or cervical infections in pregnant women. Listeria monocytogenes strain F2365 was isolated from Jalisco cheese following an outbreak in 1985 in California.
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Interaction: Animal pathogen in Mammalia; Animal pathogen in Aves; Animal pathogen in Fish
Number of membranes: 1
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of LISMF entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 2818 (522 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 2296 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
