| HAMAP: Erythrobacter litoralis (strain HTCC2594) complete proteome |
| Species code: | ERYLH |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Alphaproteobacteria; Sphingomonadales; Erythrobacteraceae; Erythrobacter (TaxID: 314225) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Erythrobacter litoralis (Strain HTCC2594) is a Gram-negative facultative photoheterotroph, metabolising organic carbon when available, but is capable of photosynthetic light utilisation when organic carbon is scarce. It is a halotolerant aerobic phototroph that was found in the Sargasso Sea. E. litoralis is globally distributed in the euphotic zone and only recently recognised as a component of the marine microbial community that appears to be critical to the cycling of both organic and inorganic carbon in the ocean. |
