HAMAP: Bacillus cereus (strain ZK / E33L) complete proteome

General information

Species:  Bacillus cereus (strain ZK / E33L)
Species code: BACCZ
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Firmicutes; Bacillales; Bacillaceae; Bacillus; Bacillus cereus group (TaxID: 288681) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Bacillus cereus is a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium of the B.cereus group. It is closely related to Bacillus anthracis and Bacillus thuringiensis. Bacillus cereus is a ubiquitous soil organism and opportunistic human pathogen most commonly associated with food poisoning. B.cereus (strain ZK / E33L) was isolated from a zebra carcass in Namibia. It appears to be the nearest relative to B.anthracis isolated so far.
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Interaction: Animal pathogen in Mammalia
Number of membranes: 1
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of BACCZ entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 5638 (508 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 5130 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
