Teaching activities
The Proteome Informatics group is committed to various teaching activities. At the academic level, the PIG members collaborate in the graduate courses of the
Master's Degree in Proteomics and Bioinformatics and in the postgraduate courses of the
SIB PhD training network. We also undertake basic and specialized bioinformatics training courses related to proteomics. Some examples of courses that we have organised or where we have actively participated in the past are:
e-Proxemis
The PIG group is also engaged in spreading bioinformatics knowledge via the Internet.
GeneBio and PIG members have tightly collaborated to put up e-Proxemis, a web-based bioinformatics learning portal for proteomics.
e-Proxemis is the centralised educational platform for the ExPASy server hosted by the SIB. Access is free for academics and non-academic people and available via subscription. e-Proxemis helps life scientists to master available bioinformatics resources essential for conducting proteomics research within their own workplace. Users progress, via their own personalized workspace, through increasingly demanding scenarios and case studies with access to a number of tutorials on a variety of resource tools and databases. Scientists can test their knowledge throughout the learning process and are consequently directed towards further scenarios, case studies and resources.
